Happy Holidays to all of your wonderful guys and gals! Welcome to another edition of War Torn Front's Blog News Update.

Today, I will be talking about some changes coming to the month of December alongside some new sales going into effect starting today.

Magic Booster Packs

As many are aware, Wizards has been raising the prices of Magic Packs to help compensate for new programs and new product experiences. These price changes help give Wizards more funding to create new and exciting programs for all of us to enjoy. Thanks to the price increase, we are now seeing events like Standard Showdown, Sealed Leagues, and many more supplemental product releases like the Planechase Anthology and the Commander 2016 Products.

However, retail stores do have to adjust their prices from time to time to compensate monetary wise with bringing in these new and exciting products and play experience. War Torn Front is no exception to this rule.

Going forward, Booster Packs of Standard sets will be $3.79 or $3.49 if you buy 3 or more Booster Packs.

This change will help offset the price increase on product and play experiences we will be offering. 

However, we would like to hear your feedback on this change. Let us know in the comments below so we can better serve you, our customers.

FNM Payout Changes are inbound

As we move into another month of FNM, and more specifically a new Standard format for our players to play in, the staff at War Torn Front Game Center have decided to shake up the FNM prize Payout.

Starting this Friday, the new FNM Standard Prize Payout will be the following:

As many of you have noticed, none of our original payouts have changed. We have simply added a new prize support level for players.

After much discussion between the store staff and several members of the community, we determined that this new prize support option would help encourage more players to stick it out and play. Many new and returning players are joining the Kaladesh Standard and we want to give these players even more reason to stick in and play as much Magic as they want on Friday Night.

Tomorrow's inventions and innovations are coming down the pike as Kaladesh comes into the Standard view.  As Magic Origins and Dragons of Tarkir get ready to set sail into the sunset of Standard, this did not deter our Standard players from coming down to play with Magic Origins and Dragons of Tarkir this week.

19 Players came to battle in FNM Standard for glory and more FNM Leaderboard points. After four rounds, Daynin T stood undefeated and jumped onto the Leaderboard. Gabe K, however, still holds a commanding lead over the rest of our FNM leaderboard players.

As we see the sun set on Dragons of Tarkir and Magic Origins, the players at War Torn Front Game Center are scrambling to take advantage of powerhouses from these sets to grind out some FNM leaderboard points.

This week, 14 players came to battle to advance themselves on the Leaderboard. After 4 rounds of Swiss, Taylor M split with Kuang C and took the top spot at FNM. The points he picked up from this run helped propel him to second on the FNM Leaderboard. Gabe K, however still holds our number one spot.

War Torn Front August FNM Leaderboard Winners

As we draw close to another great summer, let us not forget all the red hot games fought this month during the FNM Standard.

We had a close race this month. Ricky H led the board for quite a bit including several back to back FNMs not dropping a single game. He stumbled during an FNM and this led to several other competitors getting within striking distance to claim that sweet extra store credit. However, he rallied back this last FNM and was able to secure to 1st place finish and his spot as King of the Hill during the start of the FNM September Leaderboard.

It is time for Change!: Kaldadesh Prerelease Edition

Welcome back loyal readers of the War Torn Front blog.

Today we are talking about a significant change coming to our Prerelease events for Magic. This change will occur with Kaladesh coming up September 24-25th. Intrigued about whats going on? Well lets dive into it.

Prereleases are now only three Swiss rounds

The staff at War Torn Front has been discussing a change to the number of rounds for Prereleases for quite some time. While it has been great offering players more time to play in their respective Prerelease flights there have been issues. Many times players have had prerelease flights run over into another prerelease flight they are scheduled to play in. In addition, the Midnight Prerelease often took a longer bit of time and many players complained about the finish time for this event.

After taking into consideration many options to help reduce the time constraints and make these events fly more smoothly, the team at War torn Front came to a consensus.

Going forward, all prerelease events will only be a maximum of three rounds.

We feel that be cutting a round out of each of the prereleases, the amount of time gained will act as a great buffer for our other events. This also gives players an additional hour to get food, relax, or even just go home an hour earlier.

As a result, prize support for each of the prereleases is changing to reflect the loss of the extra round we used to have. The new prize structure for the prereleases are the following:

You may also have noticed on our event page that there is only one Two Headed Giant Prerelease for Kaladesh. At this point, we are scaling back the Two Headed Giant event on Sunday to create room for another single prerelease flight for you, our players. We will continue to monitor the response to just having one Two-Headed Giant event and modify further prereleases if the response is clear that you, the players, would love to have Two Headed Giant return on Sundays.

This may require some getting used to, but we want you, the players, to know we are listening and trying to implement your ideas and suggestions into our business.

One more week is left before the FNM Leaderboard has been decided.

This past week 20 players came to battle in FNM Standard for more FNM Leaderboard points as the month of August begins to close out.

Marc G managed to hold onto King of the Hill from last week taking on all challengers and drawing in the final round with Kendall D. While their points dd increase, it did not deter our current point leader, Ricky H from maintaining his lead.

War Torn Front Game Center's State of Events Address

It is time for a change!

If that opening comment did not stir some part of you to read further, well thats all we got.

Normally, the War Torn Front blog is used to update the players about the FNM leaderboard, or the winners of various Preliminary Pro Tour Qualifiers and their deck lists.

Today, however, we are going to discuss some changes coming to War Torn Front's schedule of events. The staff has been discussing and debating many of these changes and we want you, the players, to know your feedback does matter. Feel free to leave comments below with what you feel could be some changes that could be made to our weekly schedule. With that, lets discuss the changes coming to the War Torn Front events.

Mondays

Starting August 15th, Mondays at War Torn Front will be going to Open Play. In the past, we had On Demand Swiss MTG Drafts and Cardfight Vanguard listed here.

We are making this change for the following reasons:

1. Cardfight Vanguard's crowd has died off.
2. See Thursday for Information about Swiss Drafts

Cardfight Vanguard had a very strong showing a few months ago. We had groups of players ranging from 6-8, to the highest being roughly 16 players on a Monday night. However, since that point attendance has dwindled to the point where the last month not a single Cardfight Vanguard event has fired. We have been debating these events for some time, but ultimately we feel taking them down for an undisclosed period of time is the best action.

We will still sell and buy Cardfight Vanguard Single and product and we will still be hosting Cardfight Vanguard Sneak Peeks, however until further notice Cardfight Vanguard Constructed events will be discontinued. If you wish to see a change in this decision, let us know in the comments below.

Thursday

Starting August 18th, Thursdays at War Torn Front will be hosting $13 MTG Swiss Drafts and Free Tiny Leaders. In the past, we held Free Standard as our event of choice.

We are making this change for the following reasons;

1. Free Standard's crowd has shrunk significantly
2. Many players have asked about having drafts later on in the work week.
3. Tiny Leaders has had a resurgence in popularity in our area.

Free Standard has always been a great entry level event here at the store. Many of our regular FNMers have started their careers grinding through Free Standard to get better. Lately, however, attendance at these events has shrunk to the point where our event has not fired these last few weeks. As such, we have decided to take Free Standard off the schedule until further notice. We fill by having Swiss Drafts and Tiny Leaders on this day, we can give you, the players, more fun alternatives formats to play during the work week.

Sunday

Starting August 21st, Sundays will be Pokemon League day for the Pokemon TCG.

Many local players have asked us about hosting the Pokemon TCG in our store front. After seeing the massive response from the XY Steam Siege event, we have decided to bring the Pokemon TCG into the lime light for War Torn's Event Schedule. Keep an eye on the Facebook page next week for information concerning how the event will be run for Sundays.

In addition, We are debating ideas for Pokemon GO to coincide with Pokemon league days. Let us know in the comments below if this is something you would like for us to consider for our events.

Winner of the Preliminary Pro Tour Qualifier for Pro Tour: Aether Revolt

The road to the Pro Tour starts here!

This past Sunday, 25 players came down to our humble little store with the intent to claim an invite for the coveted Regional Pro Tour Qualifier for Pro Tour: Aether Revolt. 5 rounds of swiss play and a grueling Top 8 meant only one person could stand tall and claim victory.

This last week was Grand Prix Los Angeles. Many of our local players made the journey out to battle in the Modern format. As a result, our FNM Standard size was pretty small. 12 players came to battle some Standard and make some ground on the May FNM Leaderboard. After 4 rounds, Chris Dunne stood as the only undefeated. This has catapulted him into first place on the Leaderboard as we head into the final week of FNMs for May.

This past weekend, we got to see FNM numbers return to normalcy. Many players had finally gotten a chance to grab up all the new Shadows over Innistrad cards and were looking to battle for prizes and to advance higher on this month's leaderboard.

What a weekend we had at War Torn this past week. FNM, a Grand Prix Trial for Los Angeles, and our Preliminary Pro Tour Qualifier/ Central Valley Circuit Series event helped make our weekend Magical. We thank everyone who came through and made this weekend possible.

The month of March is the last month that Khans of Tarkir and Fate Reforged will be legal in Standard. Players are getting their last chances to play some old favorites, including the fetchlands before they rotate off into the sunset. Sunday, March 6th, we hosted our Preliminary Pro Tour Qualifier/ Central Valley Circuit Series Event. 37 players ventured out to battle for an invite to the Regional Pro Tour Qualifier, $250 cash, and free entry to the Central Valley Circuit Series Championship held at War Torn Front Game Center on April 16th.
